We are proud to provide our students with a creative outlet through our Visual and Performing Arts program. At Cureton, art is integrated throughout the daily lessons. The integration of art has made learning fun and engaging. Our students produce beautiful pieces of art throughout the year and display them twice a year at our district’s VAPA Showcase.
In addition to integrated Art, our students have an opportunity to also learn how to use various instruments. We provide choir classes, instrumental classes, and theater classes. Choir classes and instrumental classes are offered during the school day. Students learn how to use an instrument such as the flute or clarinet to make beautiful music!
Our school also provides a wonderful Performing Arts piece through a musical production program. In collaboration with The Audacity, students at Cureton are able to audition and participate in two musical productions each year! In 2017-2018, our students performed The Lion King Kids and Aristocats Kids. In 2018-2019, our students performed Aladdin and Cinderella. We are excited to announce that our students will perform The Sleeping Beauty and The Jungle Book in the 2019-2020 school year.
Our students are multi-talented
During the first Thursday of each month, parents and community members are invited to have Coffee with the Principal from 8:45am-9:45am. Enjoy a cup of coffee as we discuss ways to ensure that our students are safe and receiving the best education possible. Bring questions to ask the Principal!
At Cureton, we also bring in informative sessions during this time. During the 2018-2019 school year, we had presentations that ranged from understanding how to support your child with the common core standards to understanding the effects social media has on your children. Not only do we use these meetings to answer questions, you will walk away with wonderful information you can use with your children at home!
Lastly, we also utilize this time to form committees that organize events around the school for our children. In the past three years, we have had parents plan our schools’ first ever Parent/Child Dance. These leadership opportunities are open and highly encouraged!
We are excited to see you at these meetings! In addition to coffee, we also provide continental breakfast
At Cureton Elementary School, everyone is a superhero! Our amazing staff cares about every single students’ academic, emotional, and physical well being. We celebrate our students successes throughout the year!
Each week, each classroom selects one student to receive the Cougar Growl award. This award is presented during our Morning Rallies every friday. Students receive a certificate and a prize for their accomplishments!
Each month, every classroom selects one student to receive the coveted Student of the Month award. These students receive a car magnet that says, “My child is a Student of the Month at Cureton Elementary!”. Students also get their pictures posted on our office TV as well as Cureton’s Newsletter. In addition to Student of the Month, Cureton had Color Rallies in the 2018-2019 school year. The entire school joined in as we celebrated students throughout the school who demonstrated the ability to be Superheros in various areas! Students would receive a Golden Cape award which they could wear throughout the day!
Join our Cougar Pack as we find many fun and exciting ways to celebrate our students for all of their accomplishments!
